Hilarious Harmony

CARTOONS hold a universal appeal to children of all ages, from 8 months to 80 years.....and certain cartoons that I've grown up watcing are TRUE gems. The original episodes of Tom and Jerry are classics. These are incredible works of animation no doubt, but the background score and every other fringe element which adds to the total package is so praiseworthy that their magic never fades. This post is a tribute to the genius of the production team of these carttons. Featured videos include 2 brilliantly funny songs from the original english version of 2 tom and jerry episodes, a song from the hindi version, and the arabic intro for the Popeye cartoon series.

The Last Lecture

An awe-inspiring lecture which I happened to come across on YouTube. This video was posted nearly 2 years ago. Prof. Randy Pausch was a teacher at Carnegie Mellon University. Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, he was told that his time was limited! His last lecture is a gem, because it puts the world into such a broader perspective. It makes your own troubles and sorrows seem miniscule in comparison. It teaches you about the value of each passing moment of your life, and the need to chase your dreams! This lecture, though short in duration, teaches you an incredible lesson on how to live your life to its fullest, and to be more each day. To hear such a heartfelt lecture from a seemingly incredible human being is truly touching, and his final confession regarding the true inspiration behind this lecture will bring you to the verge of tears! Watch it, for it is bound to speak to you, just as it did to me!

San Revo '08 Highlights

Highlights of the mayhem that unfurled @ San Revo 2008. Though we didn't enjoy the event as much as we had hoped, some scenes remain vivid in the mind.

Video #1 : Chaos inside the auditorium as the raucous crowd shakes a leg to "Palavattom" playing in the background during the break.

Video #2 : Chaos outside the auditorium, as Ajith displays his driving skill!

Laugh Riot

Another reason to remember the friends I've been fortunate enough to make in STCS. I present 2 of the funniest videos i have come across, though only one was actually taken with the INTENTION of being a laugh-riot!

Video #1 : Is a home production by the pair of Sivin and Mathews, with Mathews in the lead role, re-enacting Salim Kumar's "Palavattom kaathu ninnu" frm the album Coffee @ MG Road.

Video #2 : Is a video taken of an impromptu dance by Aravind(a.k.a. "Hoochi") and Ajith outside San Revo!

Greatest Indian Idol Audition in History

Arguably the only true talent to emerge from this titanic mess of a reality show! I truly fell in love with her voice after this audition! It's a shame that the judges didn't allow her through from the gala rounds...but her talent is undeniable! Watch and enjoy!

The Chase Begins

A thrilling chase scene featuring Aravind G.s.(a.k.a "Hoochi"..don't mind the spelling), and the two tiny terrors, Kirthan(Hrithwyk's bro), and the kid next door.

Hungama @ Hrithwyk's

Though I'd never had time to lay plans for any b'day bash, Hrithwyk's house was a great setting for a grand re-union. An invitation for lunch had drawn about 13 hungry horses to a double-story house in Thirumala. It was a cool get-together. After everyone's arrival, the b'day bashing I'd been expecting(with a certain amount of dread) finally commenced, but it must be said, in a far lighter dose than I imagined. However, the ass-whooping was spread evenly around, as a few others too bore the brunt of Big Vish's knee. Praveen in particular(as is usually the case), was singled out for a hammering. I,luckily, managed to get a few decent shots in among the flurry of kicks that seemed to fly around. It's always amazed me how mutual ass-kicking seems to bring together a group of young boys so effectively. Perhaps it allows everyone(including me) to satisfy their most primal caveman instincts......it's the only answer I can find to a mystery which defies logic!

With the hostilities out of the way, it was time for a bit of chatter, but once the lunch plates were brought out, it became no-holds barred. A delightful offering of meat, porottas and rice greeted us, and we ate to our heart's extent. Some(like me) even resorted to stealing chicken pieces from others' plates.........a tribute to the principle of "You Snooze, You Lose"! Following a hearty lunch, we sat outside on the balcony for neary 2-3 hours, merely chatting over whatsoever came to our minds. We discussed important issues such as the decline of cartoon network over the years, the decline in quality of indian cinema, our favourite actors, playback singers and directors....and of course...our favourite cartoon shows and favourite signature dialogues. Discussing everything from Dasavatharam to DragonBall Z, the time flew by, and we had a truly fun time. These are the kind of days I look forward to as my college life draws near. Calm, quiet evenings (interrupted by a bit of harmless violence) spent discussing irrelevant, meaningless topics in good humour with good friends. It was exactly the birthday treat I'd wanted!
